Keeping Soil Clean:

Soil is critical for the production of most produce crops (others are grown in ponds or via hydroponics). Soil, and how it is cared for and supplemented, can either reduce or increase the risk of on-farm food contamination. For example, if you supplement your farm's soil with uncomposted or insufficiently composted manures or if don't use the proper time-lag and handling precautions, then an unnecessary risk is being taken. With just a few operational changes, manures (fresh and composted) can be used safely and effectively on your farm.

Following are ways to keep soil clean and safe for produce.
